Sofitel

The Sofitel Paris la Défense is one our favorite hotels in the Paris area
It is the most affordable Premium Hotel where we have stayed
Although this business district is technically outside of Paris and towards the end of the Metro (Yellow) #1 Line,
it’s a straight shot to La Louvre every morning.
La Défense sits elevated over Paris. The huge Grande Arche de la Défense in aligned with the Champs Elisse and the Arc de Triomphe (a long plaza with sculpture and fountains adorn this Paris perch)
We always envisioned looking down at the Paris fireworks on New Years Eve from the plaza with champagne, but there have been no fireworks recently
(there is an hourly light show)

Located near:
La Grande Arche de la Défense
Gare de La Défense (RER Line A train station)

Quirks which we liked:
An aire of the Exquisite
Everything is 4-Star, the sheets, the towels, the bathrobes
Sublime

Particularité (Peculiarities)
An early check-in seems NEVER available – arrive at 1:00 and they will hold your bags
Although we’ve lugged our luggage cross-town, up and down several escalators, a porter carries your bags up the elevator and down the hall – It’s an opportunity to get rid of some Euros
(Every other hotel trusts you to find your room and locate the bathroom)
Maid Service is slow – regardless of how early I leave in the morning, with the “Maid Service” sign attached to the door-knob, the room is not serviced until into the afternoon

Grocery:
This commercial district is quiet, except for a premium wine store
Bring groceries in on the Metro from downtown

WE PLAN TO RETURN TO THIS HOTEL
and recommend the Sofitel
