douzième (“twelfth”)
Proménade Plantée, Marché d’Aligre Market, Bercy Village
We come here to escape central Paris
Bercy anchors is section of Southwest Paris along the Seine which features:
-some good bicycling along the Seine back into Paris or west into an interesting more residential retail area.
-a green park which we have never accessed
-a large performance venue, a good variety of hotels and metro access into Paris.
-a Film Museum which we expected to be on par with the Film Museum in Berlin and were very disappointed
-a sometimes congested touristy village of little shops and franchises which sometimes overwhelms the Velib shared bike system
Cimetiere de Picpus 35 Rue de Picpus
Hôtel Pullman Paris Centre 1 Rue de Libourne
Franprix: 5-7 Rue Baron le Roy
Metro Cour Saint Emilion
La Poste: 1 Rue de Dijon
Naturalia: 71 Rue de Tolbiac
Cinémathèque Française 51 Rue de Bercy
The Cinémathèque Française is one reason that we should learn French. We had some communication problems.
The audio guide was in English, but we had the feeling that there was a part of the museum that we could not find. What we saw was mostly a history of cameras and history of film technology (which was impressive)
We wanted to see more of a history of French Film, and couldn’t find it here.
Vélib’:
Finding a Velib bike and finding a dock to park a Velib Bike can be a challenge in this area:
Cross the Seine on the Pont de Tobiac (Tobiac Bridge) on the Rue Joseph Kessel
Go into Paris: Ride the Bike Path along the south side of the Seine into Paris
Go into a Neighborhood: Ride the Rue Tobiac West
